Processes for designing, developing and implementing LMI for All
The LMI for All API and database has been designed to be as open as possible to allow its use by different organisations providing careers advice and guidance. There are different ways it can be used, depending in part on the resources you have but also the different needs of people you want to use the application.
Data from LMI for all can be used as stand-alone application or incorporated in an existing web site or application. It can also be combined with other data and apps, for instance from the Office of National Statistics Local Statistics, with data from sector organisations or from Local Enterprise Partnerships. It can be mixed with videos about different careers and occupations or used as part of a mapping application.
You may choose to use all of the different data sources available through LMI for All or just to select those most relevant for your users.
For those organisations with limited resources, LMI for All has developed a widget which can easily be embedded in most websites.
We receive frequent queries about how organisations can go about developing an app. The following was drawn up, with the help of Prospects, to illustrate a possible development process for an app. At each stage, some of the questions and issues that need to be considered are documented.
